The Daniel Group Serves Second Harvest Food Bank for CMS Backpack Program
For some the holidays mean eating too much food and worrying about the effects on expanding waistlines. But for many school children in Charlotte, the biggest worry is not getting enough food while school is out and free breakfast and lunch programs are closed for the break. The backpack program in partnership with Charlotte Mecklenberg Schools and Second Harvest Food Bank will send over 40,000 CMS school children home with backpacks full of food on weekends and school breaks. This ensures that they receive the nutrients they need to grow and learn when school resumes.
The Daniel Group chose to support this critical program this holiday season. Several of our employees arrived at the Second Harvest warehouse and filled over 500 backpacks to send to local elementary schools.
"I was pleased to support Second Harvest in this important initiative. As the words gets out about this program and how it supports the children of our community, I hope others will choose to support it as well," says Lynn Daniel. The Daniel Group also sponsored a food drive that collected over 5,000 lbs of food for the backpacks.
